Trading, Traveling &
Living Life On Your Terms
We have combined trading experience for over 20 years.
We quit our corporate jobs years ago and started traveling the world.
For us, it’s all about self-determined living and being our own boss.
Our mission is to help as many traders as possible to live their dream as well. We have seen it first hand that it is possible. You can do it too!
We often get asked about how we got started, why we became traders and what our life philosophy looks like. So in the following, you will get a deep look inside our minds and our approach 🙂
Many people come to us and say that they can never do what we have been doing because they are not “as smart”. Let me tell you, we both struggled in school and the teachers unanimously said that we were lost cases and that we’d never do well.
The school system never made sense and I (Rolf) came close to failing almost every single school year and I had to redo one whole year during high school because I nearly failed all classes. We were those guys that were sitting in the back of the class – if I’d ever show up in the first place.
I (Rolf) never saw the reason why I had to learn about geography, read outdated books, learn derivations in math or memorize facts no one cared about. And so I didn’t.
Teachers kept telling me and my parents that all hope was lost and that I was one of the worst students they had ever seen. So there is hope for you too. Never let anyone else put a limit in your mind!
When I was 13, I got my first computer and shortly after I started building websites. I was never into computer games that much, but once I discovered that you could make money with the internet, I was hooked.
I started to even care less about school and spent all waking hours on my computer, making websites and earning money.
The biggest aha-moment came when I received my first cheque from Google via mail. I couldn’t believe tha13-year-old old school failure could make money sitting at home. My mom was just hoping that I didn’t do anything illegal and not many people understood that anyone could make money online at that time.
When I was 15, I discovered the stock market and I was hooked again. I could not believe that it was possible to own a part of any of the big brands I only knew from TV and actually make money by doing nothing.
When I was 16, I had my first stock portfolio and every day after school I would run home, turn on the TV and follow the ticker for hours, mesmerized by the tickers going up and down.
By that time, I knew that I would never wanted to work for anyone else and that I wanted to do my own thing.
After school, I went to university because I didn’t know what else to do and because I didn’t want to start working in an office. The 9-5 felt, and it still does, like a nightmare scenario. I can never imagine myself working for someone else, having someone tell me what to do and when to do it, what to wear and, worst of all, not being paid by my performance. Being paid by the hour never made sense to me and I think it’s the worst thing you can do with your time. Of course, you need to take some risks but if you have any self-trust, I feel you MUST bet on yourself. Getting away from being paid by the hour and getting paid by performance is the only logical way to approach your life
Shortly before university, I discovered Forex trading and I felt that this was “my thing”.
I almost never showed up during my university days and I spent every waking moment in front of my charts. I was completely hooked – or better obsessed. I knew I had 5 – 6 years left before I needed to get a job after my studies and this was my deadline to make it work in trading.
During university times, I became a reasonably good trader but I knew that the living costs in Germany would easily end my dreams if I had to finance it all through my trading.
I made a decision that would, for ever, change my life: I started selling everything I owned and booked a one-way ticket to Vietnam. I didn’t tell anyone until shortly before my flight was due. My boss at that time called me crazy but he understood. I was briefly working in an office after university but whenever I looked at the people ahead of me, it was a nightmare and I didn’t want to spend the next 30 years of my life doing that. Everyone seemed to have regrets and stories about things they always wanted to do but never did until it “was too late”. Living my life in a way to minimize regrets has become my mantra since then. Whenever I feel I need to make a change, I do it immediately.
My idea was to move to a country where living expenses are WAY cheaper, which would allow me to build my trading account and solely focus on my trading alone.
I took this photo just before I boarded the plane to Vietnam. It was one of the scariest moments of my life. But also the most exciting one to date.
And then, suddenly, I had to make it. I could not imagine going back to Germany and telling people that it didn’t work out. Almost everyone told me that it was a crazy plan to begin with and that a “safe” 9-5 job was the way to go. I didn’t agree and I burned all my bridges. Nowadays I can see that the people who told me that it wouldn’t work out had busted dreams and were too scared to follow their heart themselves. The same people come to us now and ask for advice…
Ever since I was 13 and found out that you could make money on your own, I knew that this was going to be my life would be. Working for someone else and selling my time and my life was never an option.
In Asia, I got even more obsessed about Forex and I could now see my dream in front of me. At the same time, the future was very uncertain and the fear of failure drove me like a mad man. I had countless sleepless nights, many setbacks, but I always kept telling myself that if anyone else could do it, I could also reach my dream.
7 years have passed since then. I have been trading Forex for over 12 years now. I had my first stock portfolio 18 years ago. I spent tens of thousands of hours looking at charts, working on my journals and digging very deep into my mindset, looking for ways to improve.
Since then I have traveled through more than 20 countries and I spent 6 years non-stop traveling mostly through Asia and Europe.
Trading is a never-ending journey and to this day I am always looking for small daily improvements and ways to get better. Refining my edge has become my life’s mission.

I am a former professional Poker player turned day trader. I trade stocks on the higher timeframes and also enjoy the 5-minute charts when trading Forex and Futures.
I will teach you how to recognize trends early on, then wait for a correction in price, get in with the cheapest price possible, and ride the second or third leg of a trend before we bail as everything collapses shortly after. There is indeed a time to be greedy in trading – and that is in the middle of a move. Not at the beginning, not at the end.
I have been mentoring friends of mine for many years now in different parts of life and I always had a huge love for developing and working with people – thus my Master degree in Educational Psychology. I am stoked to be part of this community and hope that we can push a few of you into profitability and change your lives!
I am a pure price action trader and I also use trend analysis in my trading. I love to keep it simple and keep my charts very clean.
I was never comfortable with regular trend-following trading and so I created my very own system that helps you find new trends very early on so that you can ride new trends right from the start for a long time.
I feel home at the higher timeframes where strategic thinking and planning is required and it gives trading a completely new dimension.
When I am not trading, you will find me doing sports – mainly running and Crossfit – or reading a good book. I am very much into personal development and like to try out new things to tweak my life.
The Tradeciety community is like my second family and I enjoy watching our traders grow and move towards their goals. It drives me every day.
Our step by step training process and our simple trading strategies can be learned by anyone.
